Hyperdimension Neptunia
Hyperdimension Neptunia is a turn-based RPG that parodies the seventh-generation console war between the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii. Each console is personified as one of the goddesses of Gamindustri, a world consisting of four landmasses each ruled by a goddess. The fourth goddess is Purple Heart, who represents the Sega Neptune, a planned successor to the Sega Genesis that was never released.
As the game starts, Purple Heart is defeated by the other goddesses and cast into the mortal world. Now taking the form of a human named Neptune, the amnesiac goddess is joined by a group of party members who each represent a game development company. Neptune and her friends soon find themselves on a quest to free the goddess' creator from the evil witch Arfoire and bring peace to the world.
Gameplay revolves around exploring the four continents and the dungeons found within each. In the main overworld, the player can shop for items, initiate quests, and learn more about the world's lore. In dungeons, the goal is typically to find the exit, gather items, or defeat monsters. In battle, all playable characters have a given amount of AP per turn, which determines how many actions they can take. Combat is largely based on making the most of each character's AP to build up combos.
